I’m not sure why I have this place, I don’t ever use it. However, on days like today, when my brain is full and my pockets are empty, I need a way to get through the afternoon.

A lot has happened while I’ve been away from this site. I’ve gone to New York City (get a rope!) and have successfully merged two lives together.

I have learned to cook some very interesting things thanks to Food & Wine magazine, as well as Martha Stewart Living and allrecipes.com

I haven’t managed to lose any weight, big surprise, since I’ve managed to improve my skills in delectable goodies. The highlight of this week was sitting in Gus’ office, sampling a slice of chocolate almond cake and not wanting to eat it because it didn’t taste good. I look over at Gus, who slyly slipped his piece into the garbage then makes a “yuck” face at me. He took my slice to dessert hell after asking me if I liked the cake. Then he said the nicest thing, “My standards are higher now since you make such delicious goodies for me.” That really made me feel good because I really do try to make tasty things for him to eat (which contributes to his tummy getting rounder). I made him a brownie “pie” this week since he’s been craving brownies and running off to McDonald’s for a brownie sundae. He definitely liked mine better than the store-bought kind.

I’ve been on a roll lately with the food I’ve been making. Luckily he isn’t too picky about what I make as long as it tastes good. I just have to be careful about how much I give him because he will definitely overeat if I fill his plate full. I’m like that too, so I’m definitely considering another dish purchase so we can have smaller plates for every day use. Ideally I’d like a set with small rice bowls, soup bowls, small plates and some small mugs. Basically a mini-set. I think it will have to be a non-American style because most plates are so large, it makes you think you aren’t eating very much. I wouldn’t mind more smaller dishes so I can separate what we eat, but that will mean more washing duties. Who knows what will be the right setup for us.
